The First Fantasy Baseball Mock Draft For the 2010 Season Baseball

Drafts/Auctions, Fantasy Value, Keepers

We know that in a lot of fantasy baseball leagues, the trade deadline is approaching soon.

In keeper leagues, the significance is extra special. Some teams decide to go for glory and trade their best young prospects or cheap players. Other teams conclude they are out of competition and sell their biggest superstars in hopes of rebuilding for the following season.

We’re well aware that over the next few weeks, fantasy teams will trade with next year in mind. And so we’d like to help by peaking at value for the 2010 season. The best way to do this, in our view, is to take the wisdom of crowds by conducting the first mock draft for the 2010 season. We’ll conduct the draft via e-mail and post the results both on the website and in a future column at The Hardball Times — hopefully this can be one guide to anybody trying to make sense of next year, sort through long-term player values, and improve their team for next season…now.

But wait — it gets better.

After we complete the draft, we’re going to take a poll and FBJ’s readership will decide which mock drafter did the best job. The winner gets a $25 gift certificate to Amazon.com.

If you’re interested in participating, send an e-mail to editor AT fantasyballjunkie.com. In your e-mail, please do the following two things:

  1. Indicate your availability over the coming weeks.
  2. Tell us about the best or worst decision you made for your fantasy baseball team this year. Feel free to include as much detail as possible.

We hope this will be fun and educational.
